USA vs. Mexico to Meet in Historic Mixed-Gender Arena Soccer Match at Toyota Arena on Nov. 8

First-of-its-kind international contest will feature men's and women's professional players competing for one national-team score, with an untimed target score finish.

ONTARIO, Calif. — The United States and Mexico will renew their international arena soccer rivalry on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, in a historic mixed-gender competition featuring men's and women's professional players competing in a single international match. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Pacific Time.

The first-of-its-kind event, billed as El Clashico, will introduce a new competition format that combines men's and women's arena soccer into one contest, with both contributing to their nation's overall score.

Rather than staging separate men's and women's matches, the two countries will compete across four 15-minute quarters, followed by an untimed target score period designed to produce a decisive finish.

Each national team is expected to feature approximately 24 players, divided between men and women. Rosters will consist primarily of players from the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) and MASL Women (MASLW), with additional opportunities for players selected through combine events. Final roster selections and participating players will be announced ahead of the match.

Women will open each 15-minute quarter, competing for the first 7 minutes and 30 seconds before a scheduled media timeout and player changeover. The men will then play the remaining 7 minutes and 30 seconds. A 15-minute halftime will separate the second and third quarters.

Following regulation, the teams will enter an untimed target score period, with men's and women's players alternating every three minutes until one nation reaches the designated target score.

Women will open the period in a 6vs6 format, with one player from each team removed at every three-minute changeover. The men will then enter for a 5vs5 segment, followed by the women at 4vs4, with the rotation and player reductions continuing until the match is decided.

The format progressively opens the field, creating additional space and  scoring opportunities as the competition advances toward a potential 1vs1 showdown.

The first nation to reach the target score wins immediately, with no game clock determining the finish. Every goal counts toward the same national-team total, meaning either the men's or women's side can deliver the game-winning goal.

The format places equal competitive importance on both groups while introducing a new dimension to international arena soccer, where the contributions of men's and women's players directly influence the same result.

Beyond the competition itself, the event provides a platform to showcase the continued growth of professional women's arena soccer alongside the established men's game. Bringing both together on the same stage offers fans an opportunity to experience two sides of the professional sport in a single international contest.

The United States-Mexico rivalry has produced some of the most recognizable matchups in international soccer, and the Nov. 8 Match will bring that competitive atmosphere to Southern California's Inland Empire.

Among the players set to participate is former Mexican international and Olympic gold medalist Marco Fabián, who will represent Mexico in the international showdown. Fabián, a member of Mexico's gold medal-winning squad at the 2012 London Olympics, brings extensive international experience and recognition to the event.

Additional roster announcements, participating players and event details will be released later this week and next week.
