The blockbuster event at Ontario’s Toyota Arena will feature a meeting of two squads boasting some of the two countries' best male and female small-sided players, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. PT. The exciting international action comes on the heels of the 2026 FIFA World Cup being held in North America.
While the team rosters are yet to be announced, Strykers star and two-time FIFA World Cup veteran Marco Fabián is a likely call-up after representing Mexico in the most recent edition of the high-profile clash in Ontario. Past Stars and Stripes participants include household names like U.S. outdoor ace Brek Shea and a pair of dual citizens in ex-LA Galaxy star Marcelo Sarvas and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist with Canada, Lauren Sesselmann.
Marco Fabián, who is a legend with his hometown Chivas de Guadalajara and has won the domestic cup in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, took the MASL by storm after joining Empire in early December 2023. The midfielder crowned his seamless transition to the indoor game with three major accomplishments in his first season, sharing the Golden Boot and earning Elite Six and Newcomer of the Year honors.
2012 Olympic gold medalist Fabián, who featured in last year’s MASL All-Star game, finished his second indoor campaign by earning 2024-25 MASL Second Team honors. In 57 regular season games with Empire, the Mexican icon has bagged 70 goals and 33 assists for a total of 103 points.
The USA vs. Mexico game promises to be eventful. Back in 2023, the El Tri women claimed an 11-8 victory in a thrilling affair, followed by an emotional win by the American men, who came from behind to prevail 6-5. In 2024, Mexico dominated with a 10-4 rout in the women’s game and a 6-3 victory by the men. Both years saw ruckus crowds of well over 6,000 cheer the action from the stands.
