How One Game Created a Super Fan

Josiah never missed another Empire Strykers game after his first

Super Fan Spotlight: One Game Changed Everything for Josiah

Empire Strykers fans are the heartbeat of our club. Whether they're cheering from the stands, representing the team throughout the Inland Empire, or supporting the players every match, our fans help make every game unforgettable.

Our Empire Strykers Super Fan Spotlight is dedicated to celebrating the incredible supporters who continue to grow the Empire Strykers family and the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). From lifelong Empire Strykers season ticket members to first-time fans discovering the excitement of indoor soccer, every story reminds us why the Empire Strykers continue to inspire communities across Southern California.

This week, we're excited to introduce one of our youngest and most passionate supporters—Josiah.

For Josiah, all it took was one Empire Strykers game to become a fan for life.

"When my dad's friend took us, it was the best day of my life," Josiah said. "I went to every game after that."

Josiah and his family

That first visit to Toyota Arena gave him memories he'll never forget. Not only did he receive an Empire Strykers jersey, but he also had it signed by two of his favorite players, Marco Fabián and Brian Orozco.

"It was fun," he said. "I got a jersey signed by Marco Fabián and Orozco, and I came back because they were my favorite futsal team."

While exciting goals and unforgettable moments keep fans coming back, what inspires Josiah most is the team's determination.

"I remember when they were losing 5-0 and came back to tie it 9-9," he recalled. "They lost on a last-minute goal, but they never gave up."

That resilience is exactly why he continues to proudly support the Empire Strykers season after season.

When asked about his favorite memory, Josiah immediately thought of Marco Fabián's incredible performance.

"When Marco scored a hat trick with a free kick and two bicycle kicks."

Like many dedicated supporters, Josiah has his own favorite game-day tradition.

"They do a group prayer," he said. "The whole team does it."

When it comes to his favorite player, Josiah admires Robert "Berto" Palmer for more than just his talent on the field.

"Palmer is nice, smart in his decision-making, and a good player for the team."

For Josiah, one of the best parts of being an Empire Strykers fan is the unique atmosphere of indoor soccer.

"You guys have a smaller arena, but it's better for quick and smart plays."

That close connection between the players and fans has made him feel like part of the Empire Strykers family.

"I want to go to every game until I'm super old," he said.

Looking ahead, he's especially excited to watch Brian Orozco continue representing both the Empire Strykers and the United States.

"I'm excited that Orozco is getting called up to the USA National Futsal Team for the World Cup."

Before wrapping up, Josiah shared one final message for the team and fellow fans.

"Keep believing in them. Don't give up. Let's go Strykers!"

Fans like Josiah are what make the Empire Strykers family so special. His passion, loyalty, and excitement remind us that the game is about much more than the final score—it's about creating lifelong memories, inspiring the next generation, and bringing our community together through the sport we all love.
