From Unknown to Unstoppable: The MASL Combine Awaits

Future arena soccer stars take their shot at greatness.

People coming from out of nowhere to become stars and winners in sports are a staple of American movie tradition. Think Rudy, about the Notre Dame walk-on football player of diminutive size, or Invincible, where Mark Wahlberg's character, a bartender, walks on and wins a roster spot and plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, and of course, who can forget Rocky or Miracle?

In this same vein, the Major Arena Soccer League will hold its open combine October 8-10 at the Game Time Training Center in Fairfield, Ohio. According to a league press release, “The 2026 MASL Player Combine is your opportunity to showcase your skills in front of coaches from across the league's development pipeline. Over three days of high-level training and games, selected players will compete for spots on rosters at all levels — MASL, MASL 2, and MASL 3. Top performers may be invited to join teams for upcoming pre-season training.”

Running alongside the men's combine, the 2026 MASL W Player Combine gives women's players the same opportunity to train, compete, and be evaluated by coaches across the league's development pipeline. The U.S. Women's National Team enters the fall as two-time WMF World Cup champions and will look to claim their 3rd title this fall in Croatia — adding extra weight to a weekend built around growing the women's game. Standout performers at the combine will have a chance to be selected to play in the USA vs. Canada match, with an eye toward a future roster spot in the next national team cycle.

Both combines conclude with a final combine game, giving players one last chance to leave an impression on evaluators. The weekend will also feature a ticketed Women's National Team game — USA vs. Canada.
