Designing the Empire: Meet Andrew Massro

The Empire Strykers are powered by an incredible team working behind the scenes every day. Through our Front Office Staff Spotlight series, fans can meet the people whose talent, creativity, and hard work help bring the organization to life.

Andrew Massro is entering his fourth season with the Empire Strykers marketing team and serves as the organization’s lead graphic designer. From promotional materials and digital content to game-day graphics, his work helps shape the visual identity of the Strykers.

Andrew’s background in sports began with high-level youth water polo. He competed in multiple Junior Olympics and represented the United States at the 2016 International Children’s Games. His experience as an athlete gave him an appreciation for teamwork, competition, and the visual excitement surrounding sports.

His workday typically begins by communicating with team partners and internal departments to understand upcoming projects, deadlines, and promotional priorities. Once those details are established, Andrew begins designing, often completing three or four marketing projects in a single day.

At the end of each day, he meets with the rest of the marketing team to review progress and prepare for upcoming projects. Although the creative process requires planning, communication, and attention to detail, Andrew’s favorite part is seeing the finished work come to life on game day.

“They never get old!” Andrew said.

One of his most memorable moments was watching the Strykers earn their first playoff victory under the Empire name against the Milwaukee Wave. Moments like that inspire Andrew’s designs and remind him why sports marketing can be so powerful.

“The culture is community-driven,” he explained. “It feels like a family.”

Andrew’s experience in youth sports also influences how he approaches projects connected to the Strykers’ community programs. He understands that strong visuals can help promote opportunities, attract families, and introduce young athletes to the organization.

“Being able to implement better systems for the youth as an adult drives me to be at my best,” Andrew said. “We are inspiring and uplifting the next generation.”

Fans may see the final graphic, advertisement, or game-day promotion, but they do not always see the time and collaboration behind it. Andrew describes the process as a combination of creativity, fast-moving deadlines, and an incredible amount of effort from the entire front office.

Looking ahead, he is excited to continue developing the Strykers’ visual presence as indoor soccer grows.

“We are seeing it happen right in front of us,” Andrew said. “The future is bright. Stay tuned!”
